Museo de las Culturas Afromestizas "Vicente Guerrero Saldaña"
Opened in 1995 in the town of Cuajinicuilapa, Guerrero, the Museo de las Culturas Afromestizas 'Vicente Guerrero Saldaña' is the first and only museum in Mexico dedicated to Afro-Mexican (Afromestizo) cultures. Located in the Costa Chica region — one of the two core centers of Afro-Mexican population — it documents the history, anthropology, and ethnography of Mexico's 'third root,' with exhibits on the region's dance traditions, crafts, and the maroon (cimarrón) communities of the Pacific coast.
Counter-Narrative
The myth this site refutes: that the African American struggle was isolated. It resonated from Paris to Lagos to Port-au-Prince.
