Magnolia Plantation and the Slave Street
Part of Cane River Creole National Historical Park in Louisiana, the Magnolia Plantation complex preserves one of the most intact 19th-century slavery landscapes in the South. The surviving 'Slave Street' — a row of original brick cabins housing enslaved workers — and the plantation's cotton gin building provide rare physical evidence of the lived conditions of enslaved people.
Counter-Narrative
The myth this site refutes: that enslaved and oppressed people accepted their condition. Every stone here is evidence of refusal.
