John Rankin House
Perched on a bluff above the Ohio River in Ripley, Ohio, the Rankin House was one of the most active stations on the Underground Railroad. Abolitionist minister Rev. John Rankin and his family assisted over 2,000 self-liberating enslaved people between 1825 and 1865. The light in his window became a beacon of hope for freedom seekers crossing the river from Kentucky.
Counter-Narrative
