Buffalo Soldiers National Museum

Houston, TX
Jim Crow

The only museum in the United States dedicated primarily to preserving and honoring the legacy of the African American soldier, from the Civil War Buffalo Soldiers of the 9th and 10th Cavalry to the present day. The museum documents the often-erased contributions of Black military service members across every major American conflict.

Counter-Narrative

The myth this site refutes: that Black Americans were not trusted to fight for the country. They fought — and were still denied the rights they defended.
