Tuskegee Institute National Historic Site
Founded by Booker T. Washington in 1881, Tuskegee Institute became one of the most influential HBCUs in American history. The site includes The Oaks (Washington's home), the George Washington Carver Museum documenting Carver's revolutionary agricultural science, and the historic campus where generations of Black professionals were trained during the Jim Crow era.
Counter-Narrative
The myth this site refutes: that segregated education was uniformly inferior. These campuses produced lawyers who dismantled segregation itself.
