Yates & Harrison Auction House, O'Donnell's Wharf
Baltimore's harbor district was home to numerous slave-trading merchants and auctioneers who shipped captives south by sea to the booming markets of the Gulf Coast. Firms such as Yates & Harrison operated an auction house at O'Donnell's Wharf, where enslaved people were held and sold before being loaded onto brigs bound for New Orleans and other southern ports as part of the coastwise slave trade.
Counter-Narrative
The myth this site refutes: that the African American struggle was isolated. It resonated from Paris to Lagos to Port-au-Prince.
