Norfolk State University
Norfolk, VA
Founded in 1935 in Hampton Roads, Virginia, Norfolk State University serves a region defined by the U.S. military and the sea, providing higher education access to Black Virginians in a city shaped by Navy installations and the legacy of freedpeople's communities.
