Waco Mammoth National Monument

Waco, TX
Colonial America

Waco Mammoth National Monument preserves the site of a nursery herd of Columbian Mammoths from the Pleistocene Epoch. While primarily a paleontological site, the monument also connects to the broader narrative of early human presence in North America, including that of early indigenous groups and, by extension, the ancient roots of human migration and settlement relevant to all peoples.

Counter-Narrative

The myth this site refutes: that the African American struggle was isolated. It resonated from Paris to Lagos to Port-au-Prince.
