Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site
Williston, ND
Fort Union Trading Post was one of the most important fur trading posts on the Upper Missouri River from 1828 to 1867. While its primary focus is the fur trade, the site highlights the interactions between diverse cultures, including Native American tribes, European traders, and African Americans who worked at the fort.
Counter-Narrative
The myth this site refutes: that Black economic prosperity was impossible under Jim Crow. These walls prove otherwise.
