Harriet Scott

1815 – 1876

Harriet Robinson Scott filed her own freedom suit alongside her husband Dred Scott's in 1846, having also lived with their enslaver in free territory. Her case was combined with her husband's, and though history has largely remembered the case under his name alone, both suits proceeded jointly through Missouri's courts to the U.S. Supreme Court's 1857 ruling against them.
